Chiasa nodded slowly. "I gueeeess...if you say you're doing this for peace and stuff...I guess I believe you. And as long as you keep the promise that you made to keep everybody safe...." She hesitated for a moment, rocking back on her heels. "Then I 'spose I'll help you."

"That's great, Chiasa!" Florian said with a smile. "Truth be told... You, more than anything, were why I came back to Traverse Town. You're smart, and... Pretty." He said, his smile increasing slightly. "and I know I can trust you. Right, bread-girl?" Florian teased.

"Me???" Chiasa raised her eyebrows, surprised by what she was hearing. "You came back 'cause of me? I don't get it....oh! My bread? You liked it?" Her eyes widened and seemed starry. "Y'know I can bake some for you sometime, I just need my--- oh." Her shoulders fell and she looked at her feet with a disappointed hum. "My recipe book is at home."

"Of course I liked it." Florian said with a smile, putting his arm around Chiasa. "but more for the girl that made it than just the bread itself." He said with a grin. "I didn't tell you, did I?" He asked.

Well, I didn't do anything special really, just added some extra butter, I think. And I beat the crap out of it! I mean, kneading gets boring, so I just kinda start punching it...Hm?" Chiasa blinked and looked up at Florian as he put his arm around her. "Tell me what?"

Florian gestured near them on the balcony, as a large black portal appeared. "I learned to summon these portals... I can make them allow one to move just a short distance..." He said with a smile as he motioned towards the square. "Or to even another world. We could go anywhere with these, without even a ship! It's much faster!" He said with excitement in his voice.

"Aaaah! Like, teleporting?! Soooo cool! Then I can go get my recipe book, right?" She looked up at him eagerly. "Other worlds, too? Like, anywhere?? 'Cause then we could help Teldranis! He could visit his home again!" She smiled and bounced excitedly in place.

Florian smiled nervously. "I don't even know where this world is... Besides, he isn't trained to use darkness yet. That's kind of important for using the portals..." He said to her. "Tell you what, I'll ask him next time we see him, alright?" Florian told her.

"Ohh...well, okay. As long as you offer. He seemed really sad to be away from home." Chiasa's eyes looked a little sad as she thought of Teldranis, but as quickly as the sadness came, it passed even quicker. She stood on her toes and tilted her head as she looked at the portal. "That sucks then. I guess I can't get my recipe book, 'cause I'm not trained."

"I don't know, I've a feeling he's going to be getting comfy in traverse town." Florian said in a happy tone. "But enough about that..." Florian said, guiding the dark cloud they were on into a castle-like structure set up just beyond the normally seen third district, seemingly encloaked in darkness. "Ladies first." He said with a grin, as the cloud set down.

Chiasa nodded, hoping Florian was right. "Do you think I'll get to visit everyone in the first district sometime? I really should check on the lake from time to time, though I'm sure Teldranis will take care of it..." She trailed off and looked around at where they were. "Woooaaaah. Florian, this castle is huuuuuge...it's gotta be lonely, just you and Snowcone."

"There's more than just me and Snow-cone." Florian said with a smile, motioning as many heartless guards traversed the walkways of the keep, the uncompleted walls still unable to support the heartless. "besides these guys, there's..."

a purple-haired man appears, dressed in a hooded black coat. at his notice of Chiasa, he puts his hood up. "...I see you've obtained a new subject my lord. I thought our plan was to bring them to residency in the district?" He asked. "Oh, I'm being unkind to your guest. I am Xerj. Welcome to the castle."

Chiasa instinctively took a step slightly behind Florian as she saw all the heartless roaming around. For the first time, she was beginning to feel a little anti-social. As the purple haired man appeared, Chiasa yelled, startled. Once she realized he meant no harm, she smiled and tilted her head curiously. "Hi! I'm Chiasa. I'm not a subject, I'm a person and Florian and I grew up together. But I guess if you two were talking about me before, that would make me a "subject" of conversation!" She grinned widely at her corny joke and laughed.

Florian looked towards Xerj with a hate-filled glare, but wiped it off his face with a sudden laugh. "She's not a subject Xerj, you misspoke a little there." He told him. "This is Chiasa, a childhood friend of mine. I was hoping you'd give her the same ability to control the heartless you gave me, and maybe tutor her a bit in how to use darkness." Florian said.

Xerj's face seemed to light up at that. "Of course, my lord. Milady Chiasa can achieve the same augmentation at any time." Xerj said with a smile. "she certainly feels like a talent - not as potentially powerful as you, obviously, my lord, but strong." Xerj said, seeming to tack on that last point. "it will take me some time to prepare to do that, however."

Chiasa frowned slightly, a little uneasy. Xerj had changed his attitude quickly and seemed very eager to teach. She looked up at Florian nervously. "What does that mean? What do I need to do to learn all that stuff?" She then glanced at Xerj, looking for answers. "Do I really need to learn it? 'Cause it seems like it might be alotta work."

"It's nothing at all, don't be scared." Florian said to her. "I went through it and I'm fine, after all. He just gives you a bit of dark power to start off with, and then you're able to manipulate it a lot easier. Easy as pie." Florian told her.

"It's no hassle at all. It'll lighten your soul." Xerj said with a small smile. "It merely makes you unappetizing to heartless, and more capable of guiding the darkness to your whim. It can be a lot of work, but for a talent like you, I expect it will come too easily to be very difficult." He told her.

Chiasa paused and stared at Florian for a moment. "I don't understand that turn of phrase, 'easy as pie'. Have you ever made a pie? Yeah, not easy!" She crossed her arms anxiously, looking around at the heartless and then between Xerj and Florian. "It's not too hard, is it? And will I be able to use it to visit the townspeople? I want to tell Teldranis that I'm okay and to take care of the lake."

"It's easy to eat, isn't it?" Florian pointed out. "It probably won't be any work for you, since you'll figure it out right away." Florian said with a smile. "You were always smarter than I was, after all."

Xerj gave a warm smile. "Of course you will be able to visit the townspeople.... as a matter of fact, after I empower you, I'll guide you there myself, since the portals will no longer hold danger." Xerj said, his grin widening as he spoke. "You'll not have to put much effort into mastering the darkness, just... act on your instincts."

Chiasa yawned and scratched the back of her head. "Okay...but you guys haven't told me the process, just the benefits. I wanna know a little more than that." She looked up at Florian. "You said you had no reason to lie, so no need to leave out the details, right? You pinky swore, y'know."

"Like I said, he just injects a little dark energy into you, and, uh... I guess I don't really know how it works. Xerj really knows more about..." Florian pauses for a moment with widened eyes, before continuing. "Brain fart. That was weird." He picked back up, not skipping a beat. "Anyways, Xerj can probably explain it better. I'll be right back though, I need to change clothes." Florian said, disappearing down a corridor.

"It's simple." Xerj explained, as though unsurprised at Florian's sudden change of plans. "I merely take a crystallized shard of darkness, and fuse it with one's existing heart. The heart is strong and full of light and thus easily suppresses it, bending it to it's whim. Your heart has quite a bit of light, so this should be as easy as breathing to you." Xerj explained.
